Two Steps to Spiritual Happiness - Gratitude & Forgiveness

With Thanksgiving a day a way, it is the time of year when we are reminded to reflect on what we are grateful for. The truth is, we should do this every day and all day long. Our prayer should consists of thanking God / Universe for all that is without judgment. When we focus on what we are grateful for more things to be grateful for will come. If we focus on what isn’t working in our lives then more discomfort and unhappiness will come.

So sit down and make a list. This activity will bring you into the NOW and in a more positive mood. We love to complain about what isn’t working in our lives, which only makes things worst. I know that as humans we need to vent, but one thing is venting and the other is focus or obsess about what isn’t working in our lives. If something isn’t working for you, change it or better yet, change your perception about it. Since your reality is your perception, changing your perception is the first step in making a positive change in your life.

Now that you have reviewed what you are grateful for and will make this review a daily practice as part of your prayer work, let’s look at forgiveness. Gratitude without judgement will put our mind and heart into a positive place. Forgiveness releases our heart of any negative feelings about ourselves like guilt and also negative thoughts and feelings about others such as resentment and anger, which only hurts us. When you do not forgive yourself or others it keeps negative thoughts and feelings inside you. Forgiveness releases all of this negativity and allows positive spiritual energy to flow within you and your natural happiness, joy and zeal will reveal itself.

Two steps to happiness:

  1. In the morning as you begin to stir in your bed turn your thoughts should go to all that you are grateful for in your life without judgment as sometimes we think something is bad for us, but months later we realize that it was in fact the exact thing that we needed in our life.
  2. In the evening before you fall asleep, forgive yourself and others from any negative thoughts, words or actions and happiness should follow.

Many Blessings to you all!
